I’m Gus Wood and I set up GHW Training Limited in April 2023.
My career in training began in August 2002 when I started working with The British Red Cross as a trained casualty, acting out injuries for training course delegates to treat.
Shortly after, I was employed by The Red Cross as a trainee and completed my internal training qualifications in 2003.
I went on to gain nationally recognised City and Guilds teaching and assessing qualifications L10 and A2 and in 2012 I completed the Certificate of Education with Huddersfield University.
During my time with The Red Cross I gained experience in training on many other issues besides First Aid, including Fire Marshal, Manual Handling, Health and Safety, Oxygen, and Entonox.
I have also had experience with the Youth and Schools department, and as a Lead Trainer, assessing and mentoring new and developing trainers.
For a number of years I have worked for Centaur Training Services (North West), delivering First Aid training. From time to time I still assist during their busy periods or if they have courses running closer to me. Centaur also act as an independent monitor for GHW courses.
Alongside First Aid Training, I also work for North Wales Foot Care, providing essential foot care services around the area and in the Tweedmill Shopping Outlet, St Asaph. I am married with two children and enjoy running, and fitness classes.
